Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best way to heal my tattoo?

Steve suggests Saniderm medical grade film on all his tattoos allowing the skin to reduce scabbing and peeling, eliminate early tattoo damage and shear, and get effortless tattoo healing with zero mess, all while providing a waterproof barrier against irritants. From the moment the film is placed on the tattoo you will keep the wrap on for 2 - 3 days. To remove the wrap you will run the area in warm water as you peel the bandage off. Once the bandage is removed, wash the tattooed area with warm water and Dial gold anti-bacterial gel soap (NOT BAR SOAP). Wash the area with your finger tips then rinse with water to remove the soap. Pat the area dry with a paper towel and apply Ink Eeze tattoo ointment onto the tattoo. You will continue to use the ointment 1 to 2 times a day until the tattoo is completely healed. Joe says on average tattoo healing time is between 2-4 weeks. Wash the tattoo thoroughly with Dial antibacterial soap, hot water and pat dry with a clean dry towel. Repeat this 3 times per day for the duration of the healing process. Moisturize only with Lubriderm lotion. Apply a thin layer anytime the tattoo becomes tight, dry, or itchy. Avoid swimming or soaking it in the shower. Limit sweating and stressing the area by exercise. Keep the area clear of pet hair and dander. Never re-wrap the tattoo or wear any tight clothing or coverings.

Can I go swimming while the tattoo is healing?

Swimming or submerging the tattoo during the healing process is not recommended. You can only take showers.

Should I wrap the tattoo after I remove the Saniderm wrap?

The tattoo needs to breathe to heal correctly and wrapping the tattoo tightly with fabric, gauze, or other material could slow the healing process or cause irritation to the tattoo.

I like to tan, so can I start tanning after the tattoo heals?

Tanning during the healing process could infect or irritate your tattoo. Tanning after the tattoo is healed will cause your tattoo to lighten. Whenever it's in the sun we recommend using a strong sunblock SPF 30 or higher.

Can I go to the gym the day after I get tattooed?

We don't recommend going to the gym for 2 days after the tattoo. The gym is filled with bacteria and germs that will not be good for a fresh tattoo. Even though you have a second skin on it we don't like taking unnecessary risks.

Can I come in after the tattoo is healed?

Yes, we offer that to all our clients. We love seeing the tattoo when it's healed because we get to see our art in its final stage. During this time we can make sure everything healed the way it's supposed to and if a touch up is needed we can schedule a time to have you come back in.

How do I take care of my piercing?

Before starting the cleaning process we recommend that you clean your hands. For the first 2-4 weeks you will be cleaning your piercing 2-3 times a day using a spray saline solution. During the healing time we ask that you avoid submerging the piercing in water during the healing time. *Mouth Piercing: (tongue, lip, monroe, madonna, snake bite, spider bites) Clean your mouth using a non-alcohol mouth wash 2 times a day for 2 to 4 weeks.

Do I need an I.D for a tattoo or a piercing?

Yes. In the state of Indiana we are required by law to have a copy of all our clients I.D's. *If you are a minor (under the age of 18) you have to be accompanied by a parental guardian. Your guardian is also required to bring an I.D or documentation stating proof of guardianship . Examples: Picture I.D, minor's birth certificate, court documentation.
